Vinyl wrapping is fashionable, cost efficient alternative to paint spraying. Moreover, wrap protects your vehicle’s original paint and requires no amendments in V5 document! Vinyl wrapping is safe, it doesn’t damage paintwork... but unqualified applicators certainly can!
Being HEXIS authorized vehicle vinyl wrappers, RT-Performance is proud to be one of few UK’s vinyl wrapping centres that has access to the knowledge and follows on experience of world’s major producer of vinyl.
We use Hexis HX20000 or HX30000 vinyl for our full and partial vehicle wraps. This is a multi-layered cast film available in various effects and surface finishes. It contains premium grade pigments for a durable, vibrant colour change. Underneath lies a unique solvent acrylic adhesive layer technology that enables fitters to apply the film with a bubble- and crease-free finish. Hexis vinyl is durable for up to 10 years.
Popular colours at present are matt white, super-matt black (stealth), pearlescent white, carbon fibre effects but choices don’t end there! Check out our colour charts for full rage of colours.
Our application process is divided into three equally important stages:
- During day one, door handles, light lenses, mouldings, trims, and other necessary parts are removed. Being a fully equipped bodyshop, we have the skill and knowledge to strip any vehicle to a needed degree, which allows us to apply the vinyl seamlessly, thus ensuring high quality wrap. Day one is also spent cleansing the paintwork with a three-stage process using products specifically designed by Hexis. Stage one removes any tar, grease, wax, polish and other grime that could be detrimental to the adhesion of the vinyl, while stages two and three work together to provide the ideal surface for the vinyl to adhere on to. The car and vinyl is then left in a temperature-controlled booth overnight to ensure all surfaces are at the optimum temperature for application.
- Days two and three are spent applying the vinyl itself.
- Once the vinyl has been applied to every panel along with the parts that had been removed, the car gets re-assembled and put back into the temperature-controlled booth for 24 hours to allow the chemical reaction within the vinyl's adhesive to have full affect and stick fast.
This is a thorough and vital process, which unfortunately isn’t always followed by many applicators.
